Later, we might have a 'supper' with another cup of tea. Yet I would disagree in that farmers, and rural folk generally, would not describe themselves as 'working-class' - that is a designation only for townsfolk (if they so wish). As a boy, I remember helping to take the mid-day meal out to the men working in the fields on the farm where my mother grew up. They had already been fortified by a substantial cooked (though not 'English') breakfast and would have a substantial 'tea' when they returned to the farmhouse."
