SPL Mixing's video: Which Sounds Better BEFORE and AFTER Challenge SPLmixing com

@Which Sounds Better? BEFORE and AFTER Challenge | SPLmixing.com
Which sounds better: An oversampled mix or a regular mix? Can you really hear aliasing? In this before and after challenge, I'll put your ears to the test to see if you're able to hear the effects of Digital Aliasing. You'll also learn what causes it and how plugin oversampling offers a great solution for limiting its damage. A general misconception is that oversampling is just as good as increasing the sample rate of your session. While this may help somewhat with reducing Aliasing, the increased load on your drive and CPU - not to mention the massive storage space required for larger audio file sizes, makes plugin oversampling a much less taxing solution for your PC/Mac When oversampling occurs within a plugin or a plugin host - such as DDMF MetaPlugin (used in this video), it allows you to run plugins at multiples of the original sampling rate, then downsamples this to the original sampling rate. A good analogy for this is when you get a drum midi instrument playing 16 note triplets slightly out of time in reference to an 8th note grid. The 8th note grid is the original sampling rate of your session. If we quantize the midi part to the 8th note grid, we get notes stacked on top of one another and nothing resembles the original midi part. However, if we first quantize the midi part in reference to 16th note triplets and then delete everything except for the notes that fall exactly on the 8th note grid, we get a simplified part that is still representative of the original drum midi that also adheres to the 8th note grid. This is, in essence, what plugin oversampling is doing with audio: Taking more samples and then throwing out the data that is too complex for the sampling rate to reproduce accurately. ============================================================================= Ultimate Guide To Vocal Microphone Selection - FREE PDF (Sign-Up required): https://mailchi.mp/6016a6563775/freepdfvocalmics ============================================================================= DistroKid online music distribution - Save 7% when you sign up: http://www.distrokid.com/VIP/SPLMixing (Affiliate Link) Distribute your songs to Spotify, iTunes, Pandora, Tidal, Tik Tok, YT Music and more, with unlimited uploads - starting from at $19.99 p/yr ============================================================================= Make a donation in appreciation on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/splmixing ============================================================================= New videos will appear whenever I can make them.
