Main reason is because Young Link's Focus Spirit really carries and quickly beats down enemies. He became my highest-leveled character even though I used him two times! You should at least get the Boomerang so that you can take care of the bosses. The game will warn you if you don't have a particular item for a stage, which means that you will likely struggle to beat the boss that appears. You can get around this using Focus Spirit specials, but those are pretty limited in the early game. You might just need to jump into The Great Sea adventure map and unlock Toon Link or Tetra since they have some required spaces on this one you will need to access certain map squares. But with another hour or so, most of the weapons would be reachable and very much obtainable, especially Linkle's Boots. . But then again, Great Sea might be the better one to start with since it does give you Level 2 weapons as opposed to level 1, and you can get a higher tier of a weapon before a lower tier. Well, so long as you have it to begin with, and the restriction doesn't force you to use a weapon you don't have.
