In India, a brave railway worker risked his life on Saturday (April 17) to save a child who had fallen onto the train tracks. CCTV footage shows Mayur Shelke, a pointsman at Vangani station in the state of Maharashtra, running along the tracks and lifting the child to safety as a train rapidly approaches. "Indian Railways feels proud to have employees like him and salutes him for his bravery and utmost devotion to the duty," the government agency said on social media. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal took to Twitter to share the video and commend his efforts. The Ministry of Railways tweeted about Mayur’s brave act and commended his bravery. The Ministry also shared a video where the department was applauding his efforts and was felicitated for the same. Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, also saluted Mayur's bravery through his Twitter Handle. “I salute Mayur Shelke's selflessness and exemplary heroism. This railway pointsman risked his own life to save the life of a child who fell on the tracks at Vangani station in Maharashtra. Mayur, your bravery inspires us all," he tweeted Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, who is also known for sharing such inspirational stories. Jawa Motorcycles decided to appreciate Shelke's effort to risk his own life to save the child by honouring him with one of their most popular motorcycles - Jawa forty-two Golden Stripes Nebula Blue. Anupam Thareja, Director at Jawa Motorcycles, was quick to laud Shelke’s act of heroism and promised to present him with a new Jawa motorcycle under the Jawa Heroes initiative. He wrote, "The entire Jawa Motorcycles family sends across a heartfelt cheer to Pointsman Mayur Shelke. Our ongoing Jawa Heroes initiative recognises real heroes from all corners of India, and we're honoured to have him ride as part of the Jawa Community." Mayur Shelke's act of bravery earned him praise from Railways Minister Piyush Goyal, who announced a reward of Rs 50,000.
