He or she has to perform within a boundary drafted by the director. So without such freedom how can an actor deliver the maximum? Vijay Sethupathi: One of my friends, a dental doctor asked me that I'm an established actor. So I have my own space to improvise but what about a new comer. They don't have their space, was her question. So there is a resemblance between your question and hers. I answered her, "Imagine that I'm your assistant. You, being a dental surgeon told me to take the device to pluck the tooth. Firstly I took a cutting plier, then a knife, after that a hammer where nothing suited the scenario. Finally I took the plucker which was the best suitable device for the surgeon. So whatever suggestions I give cannot be accepted by the director. He will accept only which suits the play. But I learnt three different ways how not to do certain things. And it is also wrong to expect that all our suggestions will be accepted or right. Selvaraj : How was your first experience before camera? Vijay Sethupathi : I too have my own fears. It changes from time to time. Fear is like a demon in you. The only way to destroy it is by facing it. So face fear with courage. Satheesh : We are beginners. But in future we may be humiliated and get cheated. How to overcome that? Vijay Sethupathi : Yeah. I too have such bitter experiences. But I took it a stepping stone for my career. I observed and saved such feelings and inturn it helped me to perform much better in films when such a same scenario was scripted. So obstacles are stepping stones. Face it and learn from it.
