14 June, 2019. Ruhija Sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park a.k.a. "The Place of Darkness" because of its dense vegetation. The montane, low-land forest is a UNESCO World Heritage Site spread over 128 square miles, and home to half of the world's mountain gorillas. We, a small group of six, trekked uphill and downhill through dense tangles of vines, thorns, roots led by the machete-bearing ranger without any trails or signs of direction, and, after a 'never-known-before' long strenuous journey, we met the critically endangered monstrous creatures.
