Cathedral Cove is a 45 minute walk from the car park access in Hahei. Being on the east coast it's no good for sunset photos but is best enjoyed in the early mornings (sunrise photography if you're keen) through to mid-afternoon when the high cliff edges start to block the sunlight. The track isn't technical, but does involve a number of stairs and is certainly a bit of a workout on the return journey. Water taxis operate in and out of the bay if you don't feel like walking, and you will also likely visit the cove if you take one of the popular water tours which operate in the area.
