Sam Evans's video: AUDI ICE DRIVING Drifting the Audi S5 in Austria

Earlier this year I was invited by Audi Australia to head over with a group of Australians to Germany and Austria to learn more about Audi and how they are innovating for the future, be shown one of the factories and complete the week long Audi Ice Driving experience. The first thing on the itinerary was to head to Ingolstadt, Germany to Audi's Global HQ and have a tour of the Audi History Museum. It's amazing to track Audi over the years and see the cars we know and love today take form and evolve over the years as resources and technology became more and more available. Later that day we were given a private tour of the Audi A3 and Q2 factory line where we saw every step of the cars production. From aluminium pressing of parts, welding of the frame and chassis, electronics installation, interior fitting to engine marrying. It was quite a fascinating sight to see. After our tour we then jumped on a bus and headed south to Seefeld, Austria where we met our driving instructors and began our 4 day course learning how to handle the awesome Audi S5 Sportbacks on a field of ice. Over the duration of the experience, we learnt the basics of oversteer and understeer and progressed through different exercises to get us used to handling the cars whilst going sideways. The course came to a finish with an epic 3 minute gymkhana of all the different manoeuvres we had practiced, my fastest time came in at third place of the group of 20, definitely the highlight of the trip!
