Crushing a small ore sample to recover the gold buried inside. This sample was found in a lode vein in Marion County, Oregon. The ore is heavily laden with copper and pyrite along side of quartz. With my crushing method I crushed about a third of the total volume of the ore to minus 20 mesh, which I then panned. The quartz "blobs" were extremely hard and I wanted to confirm there was gold before taking the time to work them down to fine powder.
