The driver aided by help from jurisdictional police rushed the infant battling a serious heart condition from Fr Muller Medical College Hospital to Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research in Bengaluru with zero traffic being provided right from Mangaluru to Bengaluru. A private ambulance fitted with ventilator ferried the baby with heart ailments, in a span of 4 hours and 20 minutes covering a distance of 360 km. Haneef Balanja, a private ambulance driver was praised for his unique gesture for ferrying the sick baby free of cost. Once he reached the hospital in Bengaluru, he was felicitated by the people. As the news of ambulance ferrying a sick baby between two cities went viral on social media, throughout the journey public paved way for ambulance. With jurisdictional police en route already aware of this development, the motorists cooperated with their direction to ensure that the ambulance had an unhindered passage to the Institute in Jayanagar. Bengaluru police helped the ambulance cruise from Nelamangala to the institute. This stretch of road is otherwise notorious for traffic snarls. The baby suffers from total anomalous pulmonary venous connection, a defect in the veins leading from the lungs to the heart.
