San Francisco Ballet's video: Danielle Rowe on Wooden Dimes

@Danielle Rowe on Wooden Dimes
Wooden Dimes is choreographer Danielle Rowe’s stylized dance film set in the roaring 1920’s, portraying the couple Betty Fine and Robert Alder as Betty’s fame and stardom take off, and Robert falls into a deep well of despair and insecurities. “Don’t take any wooden dimes”, as the old saying goes, a reminder to be cautious in one’s dealings. “It’s always been my aim as a choreographer to immerse the audience,” says Rowe. “The opportunity to make a film only makes that more possible—to completely immerse the audience so they can feel like they’re somewhere else, even if it’s 30 minutes.” Wooden Dimes premieres on Program 03 of SF Ballet’s 2021 Digital Season March 4–24.
