Ingredients Required: (All quantities mentioned are suggestions, please change as per preference) Garbanzo Beans, 1 cup, soaked in water for 2 hrs. (https://amzn.to/2E9MHI1) Black Salt, 1 teaspoon, (If you don’t have black salt, use regular salt.) Chat masala, 1 teaspoon Mint Chutney/Green Sauce, 1 Tbsp (https://amzn.to/33XeA0l) Tamarind Chutney/Sauce, 1 Tbsp (https://amzn.to/2rsscDl) Red Chili powder, 1 Tbsp (optional) Salt, as per taste Veggies: (You can also sub with carrots and potatoes) Tomato, deseeded, 1 medium size, cut into small pieces Cucumber, deseeded, 1 medium size, cut into small pieces Onion, 1 medium size, cut into small pieces To garnish(optional) Thin Sev, Half a cup (https://amzn.to/2rssryf) Coriander/Cilantro, A handfull, chopped. Steamer Basket that I used: https://amzn.to/346KAPL Steps: 1.Soak garbanzo beans in water for 2 hours.(or use canned garbanzo beans) 2.Transfer garbanzo beans into a steamer/pip/oven safe container and fill with water till beans are submerged. 3.Pressure cook for 20 minutes and let the Pressure Release Naturally. 4.Drain the water, and collect the soft beans into a mixing bowl. 5.In the mixing bowl, add desired quantities of onion, cucumber and tomatoes. Change quantities as per preference. 6.In the mixing bowl, add some black salt, red chili powder, chat masala and mix well. Initially add small quantities and taste. Adjust as per your preference. Mix well. 7.To serve, scoop some chat into a smaller serving bowl. Garnish with sev and cilantro leaves. Notes: 1.Actual Cook time for pressure cooking the garbanzo beans/Kabuli chana/Chickpeas: In my case, it took the instant pot 10 minutes to build pressure, 20 minutes of actual pressure cooking and 25 minutes for the pressure to release naturally. So, total cook time was closer to an hour. 2.Instant pot recommends NPR for beans, as they may be frothy and might clog the whistle if you try to Quick Release. 3.If you dont have black salt, you can use regular salt. 4.You can also swap/add potatoes or grated carrots to the chat. 5.One cup of garbanzo beans should serve two adults.
