The album, out August 19th on streaming platforms, combines Laraaji’s soft instrumentation and playful vocals with Endel’s science-backed sound technology. A special release from the veteran ambient multi-instrumentalist and Eno collaborator. “I see music as a catalyst for inner bliss, calm, positivity, trust, creative visualization, relaxation, trance journeying and light consciousness.” says Laraaji. “This new release with Endel has been designed for deep meditation practice, to be played equal to, without overpowering, the inner Eternal Tone symphony unfolding in the head, between the ears.” Having worked with artists such as Brian Eno, BADBADNOTGOOD, Mia Doi Todd and Coldcut, this new Laraaji record marks another foray into collaborative worlds unknown. Endel’s science-backed soundscape approach enhances Laraaji’s gentle instrumentation and vocal performances. Audiences can expect to hear sounds of Kalimba (electric African thumb piano), zither, piano and synth designed to aid meditation and yoga, powered by Endel science. Born in Philadelphia, Laraaji studied violin, piano, trombone and voice in his early years in New Jersey before attending, Howard University in Washington D.C., studying composition and piano. Starting out as a busker during the cultural heyday of New York’s Greenwich area, the artist has since co-produced and recorded more than 40 solo and collaboration albums on labels such as Virgin, Glitterbeat, Warp, Leaving Records and Stones Throw. As noted by Endel’s Lead Sound Designer Dimtry Evgrafov: “We’re huge fans of Laraaji’s music at Endel and it’s an honor to work with one of ambient’s original inventors. Laraaji’s signature zither, vocals and multi-instrumental sound helped popularize the genre and our collaboration together is an experience that could only be his.
