Nel 2020 quasi 500.000 ragazze in più nel mondo potrebbero essere costrette al matrimonio forzato per effetto delle conseguenze economiche della pandemia, a cui si aggiungerebbero 1 milione in più di gravidanze precoci, causa principale di morte per le ragazze tra i 15 e 19 anni. Un’inversione di tendenza negativa che arriva dopo 25 anni di progressi, e che sta costringendo le adolescenti al matrimonio forzato soprattutto nell’Asia meridionale (191.000), ma anche nell’Africa centrale e occidentale (90.000) e nell’America Latina e Caraibi (73.000).
