Wyoming officials are asking the federal government to take gray wolves off endangered species list. This would make wolves easier prey for hunters. Wyoming is trying to pass a law that would allow unlimited killing of wolves and wolf pups that could begin this fall. The state is lobbying to allow wolf hunting to appease ranchers who feel the high wolf populations have been attacking livestock. The new law would remove the gray wolf from the endangered species list which could make them targets for hunters searching for easy prey. Attorney Doug Honnold for Earthjustice, a non-profit legal organization supporting environmental rights, spoke to Jane Velez-Mitchell about the campaign to end the slaughter of wolves. HLN reached out to the officials with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, but they were not available for comment.
