There were some very nice moments, you know, when you are a boxer you can have some pretty unique experiences, there’s nothing quite like it... I can tell you, it’s something very special, and sometimes I was... Sometimes I really think I was happy, it gave me some true moments of happiness, in very unexpected ways, it is not easy to explain but... What can I say... I remember that time, in San Sebastian, I was there for a match, and I remember I had some weight problems, it happened sometimes, and so to get back in shape, Mondrini woke me up, at like 5 in the morning, it was still totally dark outside. I put something on, and the idea was to skip rope for like an hour, sweat it all out, that’s how we did it, it was the fastest way to lose weight but... But the problem was we were in the hotel, and it was really early, and Mondrini said I couldn’t just start skipping there, we would have woken everyone up, and so we went downstairs, looking for somewhere I could train, and there was nobody around, in the hotel, at that time, and we were just opening random doors in the ground floor, and we ended up in a really large room, you know, the kind of room that is used for weddings, or for big events, there was a long table and a stage, to fit a small orchestra or a band, and big tall windows, floor to ceiling, and the city outside. I remember all the chairs upside down, on the table, and what must have been a drum set on the stage, it was covered with a pink drape. And Mondrini just turned off the lights and told me: Jump, and don’t stop, until you can recognise the colour of the paint on the cars passing outside. And left. And I was there, alone, with the hoodie pulled up over my head, in the dark, the city sleeping around me, the rhythm of the rope hitting the wooden floor, just that, and me, there, jumping, staring outside. And then the sunrise, slowly, gently... it was like.. I don’t know, it was beautiful. I remember my thoughts running in sync with my feet, and in that moment I thought I am invincible, I am safe, just that, I am safe, jump, I am safe, jump. Like that. "..."
