Schmidt Ocean's video: ROV SuBastianDive 402 Pt E - Wreck Bay Plunge Pool Australia - FK200930

Join RV Falkor and ROV SuBastian for the tenth and final dive of the Northern Depths of the Great Barrier Reef expedition. We will close out Leg 2 of the voyage with a deep dive to over 2000 m in the newly mapped Wreck Bay. Dr. Dhugal Lindsay from the Japan Agency for Marine Science and Technology Center (JAMSTEC) will join us remotely to collect high resolution video imagery of water column plankton and soft-bodied jellies. Dr Lindsay will use the data to understand the geographic distribution of these animals throughout the region, and with depth. ROV SuBastian will then fly up the steep vertical wall that resembles a large “plunge pool” carved out by an ancient waterfall in the long geological past.
