@Schtang and Aengus Studio Jam Session #3 - 17/12/2017 (feat. E2, TR-08, SUB37, Volca Keys)
Welcoming you back for this third Studio Jam Session. A series of recordings of studio jams with rougher brushstrokes, improvised elements and musical meandering! On this occasion I've been joined again by Aengus for a minimal and atmospheric slow techno style jam. Aengus is really finding his style and signature on hardware now and is proving to be a weapon at sequencing drums and maintaining flow. Super stoked to be sharing studio time with him! You can hear his work on bandcamp: https://aengus27944.bandcamp.com/ I would highly recommend his recent EP: Diaskr which I think is a fantastic piece of art. Head over to his bandcamp and get a copy at a Name Your Price download, it won’t disappoint! You can also find him on the following platforms: Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/aengus27944 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/aenggus/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/aengus27944/ I have to give a big shout out to Cremacaffe Design! Earlier this year they very kindly gifted me a Kolibri stand which my Electribe 2 is sitting on. It is such a useful tool to ensure comfort when playing synths or using a laptop. I really love it and use mine every day. A very affordable and portable option and a great product! You can check it out here: http://cremacaffedesign.com/project/kolibri/ Often I'll have a friend in for a session or I'll just be jamming alone, coming up with ideas and it’s in these moments that some beautiful sonic creations occur, never to be repeated again. I thought it would be worth recording and uploading some of these sessions, warts and all - to showcase some of the great behind the scenes moments of the creative process. It’s also good to have a few longer compositions on my profile and to have something interesting to have on in the background too! Technical Bits and Pieces: In this jam, the master clock is coming from the Electribe 2. The electribe is sequencing an arp on Volca Keys throughout, which I gradually evolve and change the parameters over the course of the jam. The Electribe is also used for bass tones, pads and delayed melodic dribbles, hats and percussion. The TR-08 receives its clock from the E2 and is the central percussive force in this piece, setting tension and release and driving the pace with some bassheavy kicks. The SUB37 is played lived or a single tone is latched for some deep sub bass. Thanks for watching! Please like / subscribe and do all those things that people usually ask you to do at the end of long video descriptions. Big love! Schtang
