This means that the planet's poles point towards its star, and it is subjected to extreme temperature changes as it orbits. WASP-17b is a gas giant with a mass about twice that of Jupiter. Sirius A is the brightest star in Earth's night sky and is located just 8.6 light-years away in the constellation Canis Major. It is a main-sequence star with a spectral type of A1V and is about twice as massive as the Sun. Sirius A has a companion star, Sirius B, which is a white dwarf star that orbits it once every 50 years.
