This lovely hymn employing as its text the 1872 poem by Christina Rosetti entitled A Christmas Carol, was set to music by Gustav Holst in 1906. This instrumental version of Holst's setting, in Open C tuning [C-G-C-G-C-E], was performed in my dining room Tuesday, December 28, 2021. As the northern hemisphere begins to tilt slowly back toward the sun – the shortest day of the year is now behind us. It is my hope that this will be a little New Year's gift for all who find it.And may 2022 go gently for us all.
