A short video of how I used a $10 programmable FRM01 timer relay module to activate my cruise control after the engines starts. Search for "FRM01 Timer Relay"

Nissan Navara D40 Cruise Control Steering Switch Wiring: https://mega.nz/file/AqpynYZC
The car is a 2011 Nissan Navara D40 2.5 litre diesel Thailand built, however this method can work with any vehicle that has a momentary push button, stalk or lever to activate the cruise system prior to setting the cruising speed. Consult the wiring diagram for the vehicle and do the research to decide if this modification is for you. I'm not recommending you do it, just explaining how I did it and why.
I worked out how to make my cruise control turn on when I start the engine. It was a $10 part and a couple of hours with some wiring. This modification doesn't negate the steering wheel main switch. It can still be operated manually to turn the CC on/off.
I find the Nissan system frustrating as I have to push two buttons to set the speed. Many cars don’t have the two steps only requiring one.
I’m used to driving my Mercedes C Class and Mercedes Vito van and both have the cruise control active as soon as the engine is started. VW, Audi, Honda, Volvo, to name a few have cruise control always on in standby ready to set.
So the Germans, Swedes and some Japanese don’t require a two stage process … you start the car, get up to speed and hit set.
When on an outback expedition it becomes tedious. You’re cruising in the middle of nowhere and pull over for ten minutes to view a POI ... then it becomes three button pushes to set the cruise speed again …
1. Start the car, accelerate to cruise speed, push set button and nothing happens … dam! ... it has to be activated again!
2. Push the activate button.
3. Push the set button.
With my Mercedes and now my Navara it’s …
1. Start the car and accelerate to cruise speed.
2. Push the set button.
It's fantastic and works a treat ... the less buttons I have to push the better.
