Walking is so underrated especially when it comes to its benefits ranging from burning calories, cardiovascular health, psychologically beneficial and more but walking for weight loss is actually quite common and pretty easy. Don’t get me wrong, I did not intentionally want to walk for weight loss but I did end up doubling my steps because of not really having anything else to do during the quarantine + always walk anyway when doing emails and walk when I edit videos. So, what used to be walking 10000 steps per day soon turned into 15000 steps per day to 20000 steps per day into walking close to 25000 steps per day or even more consistently, all tracked on my Fitbit or apple watch and the results were shocking in terms of weight loss, body composition and more. I often get asked how many steps per day is enough for weight loss or just overall health and usually I would say walking 10k steps per day is more than enough if already active BUT if you want to use steps for weight loss then walking more, especially if sedentary can be a great way to increase energy expenditure and burn calories to lose weight easily if you are sure to track them on an activity tracker like a fitbit or apple watch. Correct, steps can cause weight loss and I am proof of it having lost a lot (not planned tbh lol). I also get asked if cardio causes muscle loss a lot thus I do touch on that in the video too seeing as a lot of you want to build muscle yet are scared to do cardio when looking to lose fat as you think cardio is ruining your gains so stay tuned for some walking, step and cardio science bonanaza!
