http://www.jimmytmurakami.com Jimmy started his career in 1956 at UPA Burbank Studios working on the Columbia theatrical shorts. The following year he moved to New York to join Pintoff Studio, where his film The Violinist was nominated for an Oscar. In 1960 he moved to London and worked for four years as a producer and director at TV Cartoons London. His films with the studio included the BAFTA winning Insects and Charlie, which won the Lions Award at the Venice Film Festival. In 1965 Jimmy returned to California to establish Murakami Wolf Films. Among the projects that he directed were; The Breath (Annecy Grand Prix), The Magic Pear Tree (nominated for an Oscar), And of Course You (Golden Eagle Award, best documentary) and The Good Friend. In 1971 he moved to Dublin. In 1980, in Los Angeles he directed the feature film Battle Beyond the Stars for the cult producer Roger Corman. In 1982 Jimmy was the supervising director on one of the greatest animated films The Snowman, nominated for an Oscar and Winner of the BAFTA prize. In 1984 Jimmy directed the animated feature film When the Wind Blows awarded with the Annecy Grand Prix in 1987. He has worked as the director of animated series; The Storykeepers (for Shepard films); Inspector Mouse (for French TV); a BBC Bristol television special Oi Get Off The Train and the feature version of Charles Dickens novel, A Christmas Carol- The Movie, (for Scala, Pathe). More recently, Jimmy has worked as supervising director on 46 episodes of Birdy for Sogovision/NHK, Tokyo Japan. In June 2006 Jimmy was awarded with an Honorary Doctorate of Science from the Dundee University in Scotland.
