Scud's video: Building : MG Destiny ZGMF-X42S by Dragon Momoko

Time taken : 810 minutes (13 hours 30 mins) Rating : Fun/Time - 8/10 Difficulty - 7/10 Excitement - 8/10 Overall Satisfactory - 8/10 First thing first, there is no problem on my kit - or at least I don't feel there is one. There are complaints regarding some missing parts, broken parts and problems with the head. I have the latter one on mine but let me explain... It is a tad bit annoying since it is the first thing in the guide you're assembling and I found mine has a gap quite big behind it's "v-fin" or let just say the head can't put together nicely. So... as usual I would shave and cut off some of the plastic inside and I did it really aggressively almost till a point that there is no return and I stopped,.... fortunately. I did manage to get the gap narrower, just by a little so it is still noticeable. However, my point is : Do Not Bother! Mine could simply be a super glue fix, sticking it together at some point later since when I push it together with my fingers (or when not placing any runners in between or inside the head) the head closed tightly / gapless. Luckily, I'm able to stop messing around with it and just enjoy the rest of the process. As long as you're not missing any key parts, just stick with finishing the gunpla first, everything is fine and it is an absolute beauty. About the runners and the building process, the red color still feels quite nice but the blue has a lot of swirls on it. The more I build it, the more I wanted to paint it. Mainly due to the plastic mold which isn't very cleanly done during production, you may see a lots of bumps here and there on the edges. And weirdly, coming from a same company as the Strike this kit has an extremely low (or I mean none,.. maybe 0.05%) undergated runners. While shaving the parts or handling them, you'll feel pretty awkward. Since it is a Metal Build design many of them are pointy, having sharp edges and very curvaceous? Maybe that's just me. Haha. This Destiny only comes with several sets of fixed hands and none movable fingers - which I didn't felt amiss at all. The hands are very nice and you'll appreciate the design convenience they did to the rifle and the sword where there are openings for you to slip its hands into the handles. As for the cannon, it actually needed no hand to grip onto and you are able to turn it around out front directly from the backpack holder, awesome! Talking bout the backpack, it is really really reallllly heavy. It is so heavy, the waist nearly bends over backward (exorcism anyone?). The built quality of the waist is fine but I think it might be too loose after a certain time due to the back problem. Did I mention the backpack is really heavy? It is realllllly heavy. Posing it on the other hand isn't too hard as long as you have the stand / launcher platform. The page guide for the launcher stand printed incorrectly on mine. Before I got my kit, I found the face looks quite ugly but it turns out pretty good looking once its done. Same goes to the wings of light - I thought I found it 'too much' earlier but it wasn't really so,.. in fact not at all. The wings of light are very beautiful, even more than beautiful without it. What is more attractive, in my point of view is the weapon holders at the back. That is just simply stunning! I think this is one of the longest building time I did so far and couldn't continue building another due to the new year celebration is only a few days ahead. I would highly recommend interested buyer to get this kit because the pegs fit so much better than the Strike (which needed a lot of shaving), an improvement this time by DM and of course, Bandai's kits fitting are far smoother. P/S : Happy Chinese New Year to all, here wishing everybody a healthy and prosperous new year!
