@[Traffic Cam & Scanner] Seattle FD fights boat fire
On April 26th 2020, I recorded Seattle Fire crews responding to a well-involved boat fire in Fisherman's Terminal. The fire was quickly knocked down, and was confined to a single boat. Initially, crews were unable to access the lower levels of the boat and there were concerns that someone might have been onboard. Luckily, a search after the fire was knocked down revealed that the boat was empty. Seattle has both saltwater (Puget Sound & Elliott Bay) and freshwater shorelines (Lake Washington & Lake Union), and the the two are connected via the Ballard locks. SFD Station 5 is located on the downtown waterfront and handles saltwater emergencies. Station 3 is located in Fisherman's Terminal (actually on the same dock as the boat fire) and handles freshwater emergencies. The crews use Engine 4 to travel between stations, depending on where the fireboats are needed. Clip highlights: 0:05 – Engine 18 and Ladder 8 are seen responding 0:48 – Engine 4 reports that they are en route to Fireboat 1 0:50- Photos of Engine 4 and Fireboat 1 1:02 – Traffic camera turns to face the fire scene 2:32 – Water on the fire 3:10 – A firework or flare is seen shooting out of the fire 6:30 – Rescue 1 is seen responding 7:13 – Fireboat 1 arrives on scene
