SecondSonWoodworks's video: From Tree to Table Part 1 Flattening the Live Edge Slab

@From Tree to Table // Part 1 // Flattening the Live Edge Slab
This video begins a series titled "From Tree to Table" where I show you how I milled up an Ash Tree log into slabs and make one of those slabs into a coffee table. Make sure to check out the other parts when they are live. In Part 1, I show how I used my Stihl Farmboss Chainsaw and the Granberg Alaskan Chainsaw Mill attachment to cut the log into slabs. In Part 2, I show you how to inlay a bow tie joint using a Dewalt Plunge Router, Chisels and a wooden mallet, wood glue, and a small block hand plane. I talk about how these bow tie joints are also referred to as butterfly joints, dovetail key, Dutchman joints, and/or Nakashima joint. Check out Part 2 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVun_... In Part 3, I use ProMarine Supplies Table Top Epoxy ( ) on this slab. I do two coats, the seal coat and the flood coat. Make sure to watch the entire video to get some basic tips on how to use this epoxy. Check out Part 3 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBt_3y_NU_Q In Part 4, I explain how I made this black metal base for the live edge coffee table out of black galvanized steel plumbers pipe. The supplies for this base can be found at just about any home improvement store or even on Amazon. I then pain the base with Rustoleum's spray paint/primer. Make sure to watch until the very end for the reveal of the table. Check out Part 4 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4x8NT... After that I use a simple router flattening jig to level out the slab in my shop. Check out my video on how I created the jig here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_bJU7BEck8 I then use my Bench Dog No. 4 Hand Plane to smooth out the top.
