Emily Carmichael will write the script along with Colin Trevorrow, the director of the 2015 reboot and co-writer of "Fallen Kingdom." Almost four months before Universal Pictures unleashes Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, third installment of the rebooted dinosaur adventure movie series. Plot details are being kept locked up tight but Carmichael and Trevorrow will work from a story dreamt up by Trevorrow and writer partner Derek Connolly. Carmichael co-wrote the upcoming Pacific Rim Uprising and most recently rewrote The Black Hole for Disney and director Joseph Kosinski. She came to Spielberg’s attention when she set up the family action-adventure Powerhouse at Amblin. Spielberg back in horror?! According to reports, Steven Spielberg is currently in Ireland overseeing the filming of one of his latest projects called The Turning, and it’s a horror film starring Stranger Things alum Finn Wolfhard. The hard-working filmmaker is acting as executive producer on the movie, but is already turning heads in the country with his presence and the intense secrecy that is surrounding the production of the film. Jordan Peele Plans to Shoot Next Movie Later This Year. Writer-producer-director Jordan Peele has committed to a new movie that he’ll make for Universal Pictures, which distributed his low-budget awards sleeper Get Out. “I am currently writing it, and I'll direct for Universal this year,” he said. “I’m just trying to entertain myself again.” The three-time Oscar nominee revealed few details, except to say it would also be a genre movie, at least on the surface. “One thing I know is that this is genre; and playing around with the thriller, horror, action, fun genre of intrigue is my favorite. That’s my sweet spot. So I think tonally it should resemble Get Out. That said, I want to make a completely different movie. I want to address something different than race in the next one.” Fangoria Magazine is returning from the dead and back into print where it belongs. Thanks to a new investment, a new Editor-in-Chief, and a new Publisher, the world's highest-profile horror movie magazine is re emerging as a collectible quarterly with the first issue set to drop this fall in time for Halloween! Cinestate, the Texas-based entertainment company, completed the deal to acquire all the assets and trademarks of the Fangoria brand, including the magazine, from The Brooklyn Company. Cinestate CEO Dallas Sonnier diligently courted the previous publisher Thomas DeFeo for several months, with the two signing an agreement that turned over the rights to Sonnier & Cinestate Jessica Chastain is in negotiations to star in New Line’s “It” sequel as the adult version of Beverly, sources tell Variety. Director Andy Muschietti is back to direct. Gary Dauberman will pen the script. Beverly was played by Sophia Lillis in the 2017 horror hit. Negotiations are early and that the script is still being worked on, but both sides have officially begun discussing her coming on to the project. Bill Skarsgard is also expected to return as Pennywise. The sequel will be released on Sept. 6, 2019, with production expected to start this summer. Chastain has worked with Muschietti before, having starred in his first studio hit, “Mama.” Doug Jones Would Love to Return as Billy Butcherson in Hocus Pocus 2 In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Jones spoke a bit about Hocus Pocus 2 and his desire to return to his much-loved role as Billy Butcherson. “There was talk about doing a ’20 years later’ sequel that I would have been involved with,” he told the site. “I was actually approached and asked about that. I would love to reprise Billy Butcherson.” So are they doing a sequel?! “It’s not off the table,” he said. “The news article that I read about this TV movie sounds like… I’m not sure if it’s a reboot or if it is that ’20 years later’ sequel. It was grey about what the storyline was. So I’m just going to keep my knees bent and be ready in case they call.” The Witch Director Teaming With Robert Pattinson For New Horror Film Deadline is reporting that the director’s lining up a project called “The Lighthouse”, which is apparently a fantasy/horror pic that’s set “in the world of old seafaring myths.” Production is set to get underway this spring, with A24 back on board after teaming with Eggers on The Witch. Deadline also tells us that Robert Pattinson will star in the film, alongside Willem Dafoe. Details on their roles, and what exactly the plot will entail are being kept under wraps.
