SeeingVoicesMontreal's video: Hungry for a World Without Prisons

@Hungry for a World Without Prisons
Title: Hungry for a World Without Prisons, with Rosy-Douge Charles Location: Centre St-Pierre, 1212 rue Panet, Montreal QC H2L 2Y7 Time: 6:30-9:00pm Price: Free Other Info: The event will consist of a free vegan dinner, starting at 6:30pm, and a keynote address from 7pm to 8:30pm, followed by a question period. Childcare and ASL interpretation will be provided for this event. Description: Rosy Douge-Charles is a member of Soul Fire Farms speakers collective and an avid urban gardener. Rosy hopes that this keynote will be a conversation where we can think out loud about the ways that we can break open cages, grow food and thrive in a society where freedom is not just a dream but a fact of life. During this presentation, we will be exposed to the links between mass incarceration and the food system. Food insecurity and the mass incarceration of black and brown folks are global issues. Therefore, we will place these issues in the Canadian context and uncover the ways that the “Black Lives Matter” is involved in dismantling these systems of oppression. Rosy invites you to open your minds, hearts, and spirit to the message that prisons are indeed obsolete.
