PC Gareth Greaves and his four-year-old German Shepherd, Riley, are on routine patrol in Manchester when he comes across a young lad and a bunch of pink suitcases outside a discount store. Two other youngsters inside the store run for it when PC Greaves investigates and Riley gives chase. The offenders run into the arms of other officers. Greaves also finds himself empty handed when he and Riley are called to a break-in at a railway yard. Riley tracks and leads his handler to a building where thieves have obviously broken in and attempted to steal computers and other valuable equipment, but they must have heard Riley coming and escaped over a fence, PC Whitaker and his German Shepherd, Roscoe, are sent to deal with a reported burglary, only to find themselves dealing with a drunken man who’s broken his mate’s front door and taken his letterbox. PC Carlin and his sniffer spaniel, Smut, search three cars used by a suspected drug dealer and find a wallet hidden under a dashboard with almost £1,000 inside it. PC Whitaker finds himself on the right track when Roscoe is asked to find a pair of red gloves, discarded in parkland by three thieves, and Greaves and Riley finally come up trumps when Riley tracks down a runaway motorist who panicked when he saw flashing blue lights.
