@Working Dobermann obedience in drive | Easy dog training
Here you can see the result of using solely positive reinforcement dog training methods to teach a Doberman ANKC obedience. [SHOW MORE FOR EXTRA INFO] When you train using positive reinforcement, the dog feels empowered to make their own choices resulting in confidence and the building of a relationship between owner and dog that is based on trust. It is not difficult to train a dog when they feel engaged and involved in the learning process. We want to create an intrinsically motivated learner because as studies have shown this is the most effective way humans and animals learn. We want our dogs to find joy in their work and eventually the very act of being offered the opportunity to interact with you is rewarding in itself. How can we motivate our dogs to love training? 1. Play with your dog - build the relationship (Three 5 minute play sessions daily) 2. Engage with your dog - using their favourite rewards to get them to focus on you and follow your body movements (tugging, food treats, chase etc) 3. Intersperse play and engagement activities throughout your k9 training session - keep your dog in their peak arousal state. 4. Peak arousal state is your dog's ideal mindset to achieve greatness in training. In this state the dog performs learned activities accurately, in a timely manner, with charisma and the ability to think & be creative in their work. Even if your dog is still learning a behaviour, peak arousal will be conducive toward more effective assimilation of information and experiences. 5. Keep training sessions brief and positive - if you are not in a positive and empowered state of mind, it would be best to delay your training session until you are in a peak state. I like to listen to motivational speeches and upbeat music to get me pumped up and ready for a training session.
