महमूद गजनवी (Mahmud of Gajnavi) का जन्म वर्तमान दक्षिणपूर्व अफगानिस्तान के गजना जिले में 02 नवम्बर 971 ईस्वी में हुआ था | उसके पिता सबुक्तगिन एक तुर्की मामलुक था जिसने गजनी साम्राज्य की नींव रखी थी | उसकी माँ एक ज़बुलिस्तान के एक कुलीन परिवार की बेटी थी | 994 ईस्वी से वो अपने पिता के साथ युद्ध अभियानों में लग गया था और 998 ईस्वी ने गजनी का युद्ध जीतकर अपने पिता की सत्ता सम्भाल ली | वहा से वो कांधार के हिस्से को हराने को जीतने के लिए आगे बढ़ा | महमूद गजनवी ने अपने विजय अभियानों की शुरुवात भारत में उस दौर में की थी जब राजपूत शकित क्षीण हो रही थी | महमूद गजनवी (Mahmud of Ghazni) के भारत पर आक्रमण करने के दो मुख्य कारण थे | पहला कर्ण था उसे भारत में छिपी हुयी अपार धन सम्पदा के बारे में पता चला गया था और दूसरा वो इस्लाम को भारत में फैलाना चाहता था | इसके अलावा वो लुटे हुयी धन सम्पदा से अपनी राजधानी गजनी को मध्य एशिया का सबसे शक्तिशाली प्रदेश बनाना चाहता था | ************************************************************************************************************************* Mahmud of Ghazni was born in Gajna district of present-day southeastern Afghanistan on 02 November 971 AD. His father, Subutagin, was a Turkiy Mamluk who laid the foundations of Ghajini Empire. Her mother was the daughter of a noble family of Zebislistan. From 994 AD, he was engaged in war campaigns with his father and 998 AD won the war of Ghazni and took over the power of his father. From there, he proceeded to win the defeat of Kandahar. Mahmud of Ghazni started his conquering campaigns in India during that time when the Rajput power was getting impaired. Mahmud of Ghazni had two main reasons for attacking India. It was the first Karna that he had come to know about the hidden wealth in India and secondly he wanted to spread Islam in India.
