There has been speculation for months now that this is where we were heading… Kim and Kanye have been living separate lives for some time BUT nonetheless this is such sad news After 7 years of marriage Kim has officially filed TMZ broke the news and their sources say it's as amicable as a divorce can be. "Kim filing for divorce from Kanye is just a formal part of the process, The couple has been done for a while and have been amicable for a while. At the end of the day, Kanye and Kim love each other immensely but knew it was time to call it quits. Their children are their number one priority and no matter what will maintain a positive relationship for them." DISCUSS: were you surprised by the news? I wasn’t necessarily surprised by this or their separation in general. We’ve seen celebrities struggle to make it work many times and though we always hope that they have a long happy marriage, the spotlight mixed in with everyday life and obstacles in a marriage can a lot of times lead to two people just going their separate ways. They’ve made the most out of challenging situations and at the end of the day, they’re just two people trying to do what’s best for their family and for themselves. Their marriage struggles became public at the height of Kanye’s erratic behavior…. His public outbursts began last July, after he announced his controversial bid for president of the United States and then proceeded to divulge deeply personal details about his family and marriage on the campaign trail and on Twitter. His behavior prompted Kim to address her husband's bipolar disorder diagnosis in a rare public statement, asking fans for "compassion" and acknowledging their "complicated and painful" situation. DISCUSS: there have been ups and downs since then...kim traveled to wyoming..the family jetted off for vacation but they’re just clearly in 2 different places... Mj: As an obvious outsider and someone who hasnt followed closely along their relationship, it does seem like they did better apart than they did together and maybe that’s why they spent so much time in different places. This is obviouslt a very personal matter so we’ll never know the ins and outs of what went wrong. As far as the official details of the divorce... Kim is asking for joint legal and physical custody of the couple's 4 kids. Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ Kanye is fine with the joint custody arrangement, and we're told both Kim and Ye are committed to co-parenting together. DISCUSS: we know family is so important to Kim this is great news… Mj: It’s not often that marriages end this way so it’s great to see that there isn’t going to be a huge legal battle over custody and that they both want to keep life as normal as possible for the kids.
