Shaun Murray's video: Hittin the Slalom Course On My WAKEBOARD

Slalom Skiing … Slalom Wakeboarding … Slalom Skiboarding! The origins of wakeboarding- surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, AND waterskiing! Our sport is so unique because it has roots in both boardsports and towed watersports. Many wakeboarders, even really experienced great riders, have never been exposed to the waterski roots of wakeboarding. Spend much time with me and you’ll hear me say that one of the keys to enjoying wakeboarding is to “keep it fun.” Mix it up, try something new, get outside your comfort zone—go try slalom wakeboarding—it’s an incredible workout, it’ll make you a better rider, and it really gives you an appreciation for the skill required to run the course on a slalom ski. Did you know there was a period early in the history of wakeboarding when skiboarders competed on the slalom course as part of an overall wakeboard tournament? They had specialized boards, practiced techniques, and had dedicated lingo for slalom skiboarding. The score from slalom skiboarding would be added to the trick run and “expression session” to award an overall winner. Sounds strange, but hey that’s our roots. Questions? Comments? The boat path buoys on the course are about 7.5ft wide and your wake boat is about 8.5ft wide—it won’t fit.
