"Bella Ciao" (Goodbye, Beautiful) is an Italian folk and protest written in the late 19th century in protest of the harsh working conditions in the paddy fields of Italy. It was later adopted with altered lyrics in the 1940s as a Partisan song, becoming a sort of secondary anthem for the Italian Anti-Fascist Partisans during the Italian Civil War. It has continued to see wide usage since as a popular protest, Anti-Fascist and Anti-Imperialist song, seeing use in the DPRK, Palestine, by Greek, Spanish and German Anti-Fascists today, and many others.
