@The Fighter's Stance Episode 2 | Sheepdog Response
On episode two of The Fighter's Stance podcast, we chat with two of our Violence Advisors: Stephen Martin and Garrett Carnes. Stephen H. Martin was born and raised in Tucson, AZ. He served in the U.S. Army for 22 years as a paratrooper, Combatives Master Trainer, and a Special Operations Combatives Instructor for the Army Combatives School at Fort Benning, GA; the Korean peninsula at Camp Carroll, South Korea; the 4th Infantry Division and the 10th Special Forces Group at Fort Carson, CO. Stephen deployed with the 1/8 Infantry, 3rd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division to Iraq during OIF-1 in 2003 where he was awarded the Combat Action Badge. A black belt in the Army Combatives Program and in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Stephen is a powerful force on and off the mats, in shorts or in full kit. With respect and a positive attitude towards all people, he works tirelessly to motivate his students and encourages them all to work hard and succeed. As a single father of two, he raised his daughter and son to adulthood and is inspired by them daily. In his free time, you can find him on the back of his motorcycle or drawing in his sketch pad. Garrett Carnes is a United States Marine Corps veteran. Deploying multiple times in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as an infantry squad leader, Garrett's USMC career trajectory altered when he lost both of his legs to an IED strike during a raid on a suspected enemy compound. Upon medically retiring, Garrett began giving speaking seminars on combat leadership to USMC officers and senior enlisted PME schools in Quantico, VA. After returning home to North Carolina, Garrett resumed martial arts training where he is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor, actively competes in grappling tournaments, and has defeated able-bodied opponents in modified MMA fights in the cage. Garrett lives to train, learn, teach, and protect. See our LIVE course calendar: https://sheepdogresponse.com/collecti... Tim was also the co-star of Hunting Hitler on the History Channel, and more recently, Hard To Kill, on the Discovery Channel. People face threats of violence every day, ranging from large-scale terrorism to one-on-one assaults. Most people are unprepared, unequipped, and untrained to respond effectively. This weakness in the flock allows the wolves to attack with great ease and success. The answer is not more laws. The wolves don’t follow them. We must give the good guys the tools they need to effectively respond to violence. The more Sheepdogs we can train to be truly ready to respond to a mass shooting, terrorist attack, violent mugging or home invasion, the better the chances are that the bad guys will get what they deserve and the good guys will survive. Most people sign up for martial arts or weapons training expecting to learn realistic self-defense, and few get it… We have developed a curriculum that addresses the skills you need to successfully respond to threats
