Don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT, SHARE and SUBSCRIBE! Thanks!! This was my first match for the 2019 season. I finished 3rd overall in Standard Division and was Top Senior. It was a good match to get back into the groove as my last match and last time practicing was in September 2018. Unfortunately, due to the change in seasons, September is usually the last month for me to get one final outdoor match in and ends my range practice time. It's usually too cold in Manitoba to practice outdoors late fall but definitely winter is a no go. I felt a little rusty in this match and it took me about three (3) stages to feel more relaxed and smooth in my shooting, techniques and movement. Overall, I was pretty happy. The biggest things that I noticed were: speed reloads weren't smooth and my recoil management was lacking for the first two stages as I had a lot of muzzle flip. Some dry fire practice will sort out my speed reloads and get them smooth and fast again. As for recoil management, I'll have to try to get to the range on some of the warmer days to do some very basic drills to ensure I'm gripping the gun with enough force and that I apply enough pressure to my thumb rest to gain maximum benefit from it. Unfortunately, I had three misses. Two were the result of me not following through on the final shot before starting my movement towards my next position and one miss was due to poor sight alignment while coming in fast and hard into a new position. I think I pushed the muzzle down in anticipation to the recoil. I'm looking forward to February as our match weekend for that month is a double header, back to back matches! Should be fun.
