Shooter's Inc's video: 2018 IPSC Manitoba Provincial Championship

Don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT, SHARE and SUBSCRIBE! Thanks!! This will be one match I won’t soon forget. The stages were good one and the match well organized. No rain was in the forecast for the weekend. Saturday was great weather but overnight and throughout Sunday, the rain came down and hard. The range was turned in to a water and mud bowl. Some Standard Division shooters (a very small number) were lucky enough to shoot the match on Saturday but the majority were not. The water and mud certainly affected my performance and to tell the truth, everyone suffered. To make up for the inablilty to move fast through the water and mud, I shot faster at times at the expense of accuracy to gain some time. Sometimes it worked and other times not. It was a wise move to slow down the movement as the mud made it very slippery and the water didn’t allow you to see what you were stepping into. Like I said, this is one match I won’t soon forget. Lol As usual, my aim for the first stage of the match was to play it safe and start the match off on a good footing. So, I shot a little slower to make sure I got good hits and got rid of the initial stage jidders. Stage 5 was my first stage and it required a manitory mag change between the first target and befor engaging the last target. I did the math and it was worth taking the procedure and not conduct the mag change so to gain a higher hit factor. So, that is what I did, no mag change and took the procedural. The second stage should have been an easy one. How could I miss those large poppers? Right?! Well, I took too many makeup shoots to knock them all down. Ouch! My excuse, haha, is I was concentrating too much on the fact that the sky was about to open up and it did as soon as I finished the stage. The range shut down for about 45 minutes or more as it poured! Stage 8 was unfortunate in that I took a make shoot for no reason which required a mag change. I simply didn’t see my second hit on the final target. That cost me 3 seconds easily. Once the range opened up again after the rain shutdown, I shot Stage 6, a long stage, which was now a muddy mess. We all had no choice but to slowdown our movement so not to risk a serious slip. Well, there was some serious sliding action just the same. I’m sure glad I had my baseball cleats on! We did have to change the shooting area of Stage 13 as we could pump all the water out due to the on and off rain. This was actually done before the shooting started on Saturday as it had rained over Friday night. Standing water in Bay 1 was the only issue on Saturday as the range floor was pretty much dry by the time the shooting started Saturday morning around 10am. I think my video will give you a very good idea of the amount of water and mud. At times, it was over my ankles. Lol. Talk about dirty mags when they dropped into the mud! We even pumped water out of one bay as there was that much water. I finished 3rd overall in Standard and was Top Senior as well. I had hoped for the match win. There was little chance to beat the match winner who had shoot on Saturday in ideal conditions. Those are the breaks. I shot with good confidence in the terrible range conditions so overall I’m happy with my performance. Normally, I am within a half a percent or less of the match winner as we compete together regularly. Not this match with Sunday’s rain and the mud. I guess I’ll have to wait until next year to challenge Hector’s title as Manitoba Provincial Standard Division Champion. My next match is the 2018 IPSC Canada National Championship at the same range in Selkirk, Manitoba. As I have already shot that match at the time of this video posting, I can tell you the weather conditions were great for the entire week during the National Championship.
