Recently i had travelled to a beautiful place - Renukaji which is situated in the Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh in India and it is 672 m above the sea level.Renuka Lake is located at a distance of 37 km from Nahan and 60 km from Paonta Sahib covering an area of 2.5 km. Situated amidst lush green forests of Indian Himalayas , It is the largest natural lake in Himachal Pradesh, with a circumference of about 3214 m. This lake was named after the goddess Renuka. It is well connected by the road. Boating is available on the lake. A lion safari and a zoo are there at Renuka. It is the site of an annual fair held in November. It is designated as Ramsar site since November 2005. The temple was built in 1814 in the memory of Goddess Renuka, the wife of Rishi Jamadagni and mother of Parshuram. It is said that Parshuram wished to spend his life at the feet of his mother and it is because of this reason, the mother-son duo meet every year during the commencement of annual Renuka Fair. It is also believed that Goddess Renuka is the incarnation of Goddess Durga.
