Heavy luggage travel hack for Japan 🇯🇵🧳 If you’re searching for overnight luggage solutions when travelling around Japan, look out for these coin lockers at train stations and near major tourist attractions. Though the accessibility on public transport has improved in recent years, there are still a lot of stations where escalators/lifts aren’t available and there’s a LOT of stairs. Prices start from 300 - 800 yen per day for a maximum of 3 days(until the staff automatically empty the lockers out) and operates from midnight to midnight. For a large Muji case, mine was 700 yen per day which works out at £4.30/$5.30 USD! I’d recommend train terminals such as Tokyo station for the bigger lockers! This was perfect for a short break in Hakone - especially on the day I had to travel between 3 trains, a cable car, ropeway, bus and a short walk through the woods to my onsen hotel. There are also options for luggage delivery services from one part of Japan to another but I didn’t need it for this trip so can’t comment on its efficiency!
