NEPAL 1981 (Remastered & nachvertont 2020) (GB-text below) Diesen privaten Film über die alte aber lebendige Kultur in der Kathmandu-Region drehten wir bereits 1981 mit einer Beaulieu 4800 Kamera auf von TUI geführten Touren in Nepal. Viele der hier gezeigten Tempel, Stupas und Bauten wurden beim katastrophalen Erdbeben 2015 zerstört, unsere Aufnahmen sind daher inzwischen historisch. Wir hatten das große Glück, ausgerechnet zum großen Fest der Lebenden Göttin (Kumari Devi) in Kathmandu mit der Kamera vor Ort zu sein. Gute Nerven braucht der Besuch der Opferstätte Dakshin Kali. Weitere Attraktionen sind der Swajambuh, der Bodnath sowie eines der größten Heiligtümer der Hindureligion, der Tempelkomplex Pashupatinath am heiligen Fluss Bagmati. Der Film wurde noch im Super-8 Format auf Zelluloid aufgenommen und später nachvertont. Diese fast 40 Jahre alten Filmrollen haben wir jetzt digitalisiert und mit großem Aufwand wieder anschaubar gemacht. Zudem wurde der Film aus technischen Gründen neu vertont, wobei wir uns die Musik von SmartSound einiges kosten ließen. Zwar erreicht die Bildqualität nicht den von uns gewohnten Standard, die einmaligen historischen Aufnahmen sollten das aber wett machen. Wer sich für exotische Länder oder speziell für die lebendige Kultur Nepals interessiert, der sollte hier auf seine Kosten kommen. ENGLISH TRANSLATION: Even in 1981, we filmed this private movie on the lively ancient culture in the Kathmandu region with a Beaulieu 4800 on tours guided by TUI in Nepal. Many of the shown temples, Stupas and buildings were destroyed during the devastating earthquake in 2015; therefore, our shots are already historic. It was our great good fortune to be on site with the camera exactly for the festival of the living goddess (Kumari Devi) in Kathmandu. Good nerves are needed for the visit at the sacrificial site Dakshin Kali. Further attractions are the Swajambuh, the Bodnath as well as the largest sanctuary of the Hindu religion in Nepal, the temple complex Pashupatinath at the holy river Bagmati. The film was produced in Super-8 format (celluloid). We digitized the almost 40 years old film reels and improved them with a lot of expenditure to make them viewable again. In addition, we faithfully recreated narration and sound for technical reasons and did not mind spending quite a bit of money for the soundtrack by SmartSound. Namely, the picture quality does not meet our usual standard; however, the unique historic shots should offset that. Those interested in exotic countries or especially in the lively culture of Nepal should get their money’s worth.
