Signal Hill Productions's video: CSXT 3179 Brand New GEVO in Andover - Pan Am SEPO

CSXT 3179 (GE ES44AC) and CSXT 3146 (GE ES44AC) lead the eastbound freight SEPO (Pan Am Railways) through Andover, Massachusetts, on a pleasant afternoon in May. My brother and I were able to chase this train here from Lowell Junction, where it'd been waiting for a good couple of hours. In tow is a mixed freight consist typical of SEPO/Q426 (CSX Transportation). CSXT 3179 is property of CSX; however, she's being operated here by Pan Am as part of a run-through agreement between the two railroads. She was built in 2015 by GE Transportation (General Electric), representing the latest technology that the GE Evolution Series (GEVO) has to offer. As an ES44AC (referred to as an ES44AH by CSX), CSXT 3179 weighs in at 432,000 pounds (196,000 kilograms) and produces up to 4,400 horsepower (3,280 kilowatts); these weight and power numbers yield a starting tractive effort of 183,000 pounds (814 kilonewtons) and a continuous tractive effort of 166,000 pounds (738 kilonewtons) at 13.7 mph (22 km/h). Her ES44AH designation is attributed to her increased nominal weight, her steerable trucks, her upgraded software for adhesion control and management of tractive effort, and her built-in rail cleaning system.
