@Charles Geschke and John Warnock Interview - March 28, 2000
Charles Geschke (1939-2021) impacted the world in marvelous ways. In 1979, Geschke and co-worker John Warnock left Xerox PARC to found Adobe Systems in Los Altos, California. They had become frustrated at Xerox's refusal to commercialize new applications to enhance the printing process from computers. Adobe was founded in 1979 to design mainframe computers. The company soon formed a pact with Apple's Steve Jobs to develop an elegant software program named Postscript that took images from the computer screen to reproduce on paper. Postscript ushered in a new communications phase that all major computer companies adopted. The impact of Postscript on the future development of PCs was vital. Under Geschke's watch at Adobe, the company developed many computer applications that millions of people use daily around the world.
