Simply Seth's video: No Ropes Rock Climber Dances With Death At The Beach

@No Ropes Rock Climber Dances With Death At The Beach
I realize that adrenaline junkies exist and really enjoy what they do for thrills, and that free-soloing is "relatively" popular in the rock climbing community. But I think it's utterly stupid. It's somewhat popular, but then, so is dying from it. One little misstep, one little rock that crumbles under their hand or foot, one small slip, one strong gust of wind and that's it. This young lady showed up at the beach I was at, with a few of her friends. The California Coast being rocky with cliffs and all, apparently provided her an opportunity to test her rock climbing skills. No ropes, no harness, no safety gear, nothing. She scales the face of this nearly vertical cliff to the top. It was nerve-wracking to watch. I started filming once she decided to climb back down this almost totally vertical wall. I am against this type of activity 100%. It's not worth it. It really isn't. A skilled rock climber might succeed a bunch of times (MIGHT- No guarantees), but it only takes one mishap which will result in pretty certain death or at least lifelong disability. I just can't see why anyone would think this is somehow a good idea. What makes this situation even worse, is that the rock face is composed of somewhat loose and crumbly rock. It's also slippery from the sea spray. It was also very gusty winds that day. In fact, a strong gust nearly blew me over when I was standing on the beach. A strong gust like that is certain disaster for a free-soloist. Of all the bone-headed extreme stunts, this no ropes rock climbing or cliff jumping into water takes the cake for stupid and risky things to do. People like her, tend not to live too long, because sooner or later, something will go wrong during a climb. I beg everyone to never do this, EVER!! The level of danger is sky high. But common sense should have told you that to begin with.
