Clarisonic has created quite a buzz with their "miracle" face brush and now that Proactiv has introduced one as the "next best thing" in skin care, I figured it was time to shed some light on the truth! There has been NO published research to prove the Clarisonic (or other face brushes) are more effective at exfoliating skin than a soft washcloth. While a face brush may exfoliate skin well, it can also be problematic for skin. Mechanical face brushes can easily over exfoliate skin and damage healthy cells. Additionally, not all face brushes are made with anti-microbial materials, and can easily become a source of bacteria. A washcloth or microfiber face cloth will exfoliate skin with less irritation and can be easily cleaned, unlike the brush attachments that face brushes use! Above all, chemical exfoliants such as AHA or BHA are the BEST option for skin exfoliation...but thats a talk for a different time :) Thanks for watching!
