@BOOMbox to-go: Propagating and Transplanting a Houseplant
Join Amy H., our experiential learning supervisor, as she explains how to propagate and transplant common houseplants! Here are some additional helpful tips: Most common houseplants can be propagated in water. These include plants like pothos, philodendron, monster, and ZZ plants. Plants like spider plants propagate on their own with mini plants or spiderettes, and those can be removed and repotted. No special scissors are required to cut plants - a knife would even work just as well. It's always a good idea to use clean items. While some people say cut an angle and some don’t. it’s more about where you cut then how. Deciding between stilled and tap water? It can be up to personal preference. Chicago tap water is pretty great and Amy H says she has never had an issue with it!
