Dr. Wily's third stage from Mega Man for the NES. No damage taken and buster only speed run. The boss fight here is notorious for its seemingly random behavior, therefore rendering it largely a luck-based encounter. CWU-01P more than likely uses player input to regulate a random number seed, which then determines which entrance the next pod will appear from. Though i couldn't exactly pin down the player input cause-to-effect pattern, there are a couple consistencies that may help with the randomness this fight produces. Most noticeably, the bubble pods will always move clockwise. Therefore, if the next pod appears from above, and you're not to the right of the blocks, it's a guaranteed hit. It's also important to note that the pods cannot be jumped over...when Megaman and a pod are at the same height, the pod is unavoidable. This is where the luck comes into play, as your ability to out-maneuver a pod depends on your position in the room and which entrance the pod enters from. The only other consistency that can be used to your advantage is the fact that the pods shoot their projectiles at regular intervals, making them somewhat predictable. If the player dies, any Gutsman blocks that were previously thrown will not reappear until a continue is used. The sprite overload in this encounter causes flickering and some minor audio distortion, regardless of console or emulator use. Comments, requests, and suggestions are always welcome!
