Sonya Rose Atkinson's video: Yesterday s Run poem by Sonya Rose

There are many torn lives in this world, including me, whose lives are forever changed. It is no doubt life is a lifelong struggle and you can feel so easily lost... I wrote this poem in 1991, lying on the beach sands with my sister, Lillian, months before my grandmother passed away. I never had a chance to give her this poem, never had a chance to say goodbye. But I prefer no goodbyes, just "until we meet again..." I wanted to send a message about "Yesterday's Run"; sometimes, you have to be able to find some beauty in it, then, be able to say goodbye to the ugly of it in order to move forward in faith and understanding, about why things are happening or the way it all turned out to be... This was my first video poetry that I created, let alone one of the very first poems that I wrote in my life. It was an entire new springboard for me as I typically wrote poems on scrap paper and napkins back in the day.
