Gastric reflux , Heartburn happens where stomach acid comes back up into your food pipe, the reflux can get to any level from your stomach all the way to your mouth. Our stomach secretes acid to help digest food and it is very capable of handling acidic environment.  However our food pipe does not cope very well with acid, so when acid back flow into our food pipe, we might get heartburn, an uncomfortable burning sensation in the chest that often occurs after eating. this can also cause oesophagitis which is an inflamed food pipe which is soreness the tummy area. When the reflux gets into our mouth, it causes an unpleasant, sour taste because of the acid For some people, Gastric reflux can also cause bad breath, bloating and belching, make you feel sick or sick, It can also cause pain when swallowing and/or difficulty swallowing Acid reflux can be caused by many things such as Eating large meals or lying down right after a meal, or bending over at the waist Being overweight or obese, Eating certain foods, such as citrus, tomato, chocolate, mint, garlic, onions, or spicy or fatty foods, Drinking certain beverages, such as alcohol, carbonated drinks, coffee, or tea, Smoking, Being pregnant, Taking certain medications, like aspirin, your NSAIDs like ibuprofen, certain muscle relaxers, or blood pressure medications, stress and anxiety.  If your symptoms happens quite frequently, like more than once a week, your condition is called GERD/ GORD AKA Gastro-esophageal reflux disease.  if you only have symptoms occasionally. there are things that you can do at home to help relief it. There are could also medications you can from the pharmacy without a script for it Speak to your local pharmacist, and your pharmacist will recommend something suitable for you.  So what are the treatment for mild and occasionally mild reflux? note that occasional here means you are experiencing symptoms not more than once a week, otherwise you will need to go to see a doctor.  *Food to limit High Fat content food High Salt content food Spicy food Onion Garlic Chilli Acidic food Citrus fruits, eg lemon, oranges Fizzy/carbonated drinks Coffee/ Tea Chocolate Lifestyle modification *If you are overweight, Weight losing *if you are smoking , Stop smoking How to stop smoking video ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi1v9YsiHLU&t=10s *Stress and anxiety, relax and meditation *eating smaller meals Please watch video for more information.... If the above doesn't work, go to a pharmacy and see pharmacist your pharmacist, your pharmacist will recommend you some on-demand dosing medication.  The pharmacist might recommend you Antacid which contains hydroxide alkali, alginate and or Simethicone If antacids do not give adequate relief, The pharmacist will give you a H2 receptor antagonist such as ranitidineor a proton pump inhibitor such as esomeprazole, like your Nexium, pantoprazole (Somac), rabeprazole (Pariet)  I will talk about as well, When do you see a doctor?
