The report said Travis King confessed to entering North Korea because of "inhuman maltreatment and racial discrimination within the US Army." It was the first public acknowledgement of the incident by Pyongyang. US officials said they believed King intentionally crossed into North Korea during a civilian tour of the Joint Security Area between North and South Korea on July 18.
