Thoovanam Waterfalls – Munnar wild life sanctuary It is a must go place on the way to Munnar from Coimbatore. Thoovanam Waterfall in Pambar River is located within the Chinnar wild life sanctuary. surrounded by abundant natural beauty. This magnificent fall cascades from a height of 1400 feet. The waterfall is situated approximately 60 km away from Munnar town. Many nature lovers and trekkers visit this place to see wild animals and to enjoy the beauty of the waterfalls. Thoovanam water falls can be accessed only by a trek of around 4 km from Alampetty check post .The view of this waterfall is so stunning that many tourists prefer to sit here doing nothing but gazing at the natural beauty and enjoying the serenity of the place. The waterfall cascades here throughout the year, but for the most amazing experience, one should visit this place during monsoon. The fascinating surroundings of Thoovanam look even beautiful during monsoon. We will get to trek inside the sanctuary which is full of greenary and i must add that it is thick forest. As we go on trekking we can hear the sound of the fall and we get to walk beside the river. Finally we get to reach the fall all of a sudden which gives immense joy. We can experience the fall very near and it is so beautiful.. Beautiful fauna, river, hills and the fall makes this place picture perfect.. Extremely awesome experience and a great picturesque view. The only drawback is the trekking time and distance. There will be a guide to accompany you to reach the place and it costs only 300 rs per head. Excellent place with breathtaking views. Forest department will charge 300rs/Person with a guide to accompany us. Please carry enough water and snacks. Total up & down 2hrs trekking time. They will allow 1hr for bathing near falls. A wonderful place to explore. Reach eco camp by 8 am. Get the passes and a guide will join you along for the trek. Totally 6 kms (2 way) easily doable. On the way up you will also enjoy bathing in the stream. Bathing near falls is not permitted. Thoovanam Waterfalls is one of the most beautiful waterfall inside the forest in Kerala. It is located within Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, near Marayoor. This is also a wonderful place for trekkers and others who love nature. We are trekking to this waterfalls today and after returning from the Thoovanam, we are staying in a mud house at the top of the hill at Marayoor. The way to the mud house is an adventurous offroad.
